When I slept in my clothes
Exhausted and happy I am, therefore, since Saturday evening, again a part of civilization. The canoe trip was simply turned off and only extremely well the Canadian experience par excellence. But I think I first tell the story from the beginning.
clock Friday morning around 8:30 we started to say at a canoe rental in Saskatoon. It went relatively fast by the hand and we have just thrown the canoe on the roof of Nick's car. The next goal was Waskesiu then what about 250km north of Saskatoon is located in Prince Albert National Park. There we had to then announce that we go canoeing. It must be the fact this way: If we log off us within 48 hours there again, we are still missing and we will look after us. The canoe route was 50 km from Waskesiu namely further away and was thus cut off from civilization. In the entire area have been otherwise, no other canoeists stopped as it was outside just very cold and the season for canoeing normal is over. Oh, and besides, we still had to read through the "You're in black bear country" brochures, as there is teeming with them.
around 12:30 clock we finally got into the canoe and the journey could begin. 2 days, where we should sit together for 5 hours in canoes were so ahead of us. After about 15 minutes we had to get off and straight back, because we change the river because of rapids had. Thus the canoe was called by a transport system over 1km lead to far to the nearest river. Has worked quite well and then it really took off on the right route.
Although the weather for the time being not very good-looking, this changed asbald about half an hour we were heading. The sun actually did come out again for about 2 hours and really nice bescherrte us a relatively comfortable Ride through one of the largest lakes probably I've ever seen in my life. As the first major lake was then overcome, the journey began to be just breathtaking. As we paddled there was not even such an incredible silence - think something I have never come across before. You just heard absolutely nothing, just peace and beautiful nature around you. In addition, the water was so crystal clear and all the clouds were reflected in this.
lost this time around we follow the map when Nick asked me this about him but about his paddle to the front to give you ... .. you have to imagine such as this in a movie where someone something super "important " such as a 1-million-euro lottery ticket loses by a Windböhe. We then laughed about 1 hour non-stop because we could not believe how stupid we were. We have found the right track but still, and came shortly before 17 clock at our "campsite" at. It was a kind of peninsula, with a fireplace where already a lot of fire wood for us was available. Fortunately, this has not rained and the day before, since the entire timber would otherwise have been soaked. The fire was in fact extremely important to us, as it already loose in the evening just 1 ° C was out.
The fire was then quite quickly thanks to birch bark ignites and kept us warm around until 23:30 clock. We have determined six hours just sitting around, eating canned soup and talked a lot. Against 20 clock again it was really creepy - about 5 meters away from us suddenly it started like crazy several times to rustle in the bushes. We are then startled directly and have the flashlight turned on. Some black animal in size of an average dog staring at us for about 2 seconds before it disappeared into the darkness. To be honest we had to be pretty scared because it just as good a hungry black bear could have been and we've seen a couple of hours before, just 5 wolves running around together. Fortunately, we were but then spared by wild animals and were able to clock in freezing temperatures to 23:30 in our tent put to sleep. I believe it was the first time I've slept in my entire clothes, because it was so incredibly cold.
next morning we are already at 7 clock then crawled out of the tent. And what happened? It has snowed all night and it was even still in the snow. Still pretty tired was a damn cold and then of course had in mind that the weather could completely umschwanken to rain and we had finally relaxed 4 hour drive ahead of us. Well, just another 1-2 reingepiffen muesli bar and off we went. After 15 minutes We then came back on to a large lake, we had to cross completely.
Meanwhile there was also very windy and the lake began to beat waves. What we were glad when we finished the last stage. It was just 10 times harder to come up with a strong head wind and waves ahead.
is overcome, since the route to not only complete with a canoe, we had to haul the canoe, two times each for about 500 meters. Was not it just as easily as we each had about 15kg of luggage and the canoe was just damn hard. But we have mastered it! At about 12 clock we were pretty soaked and frozen by slightly at the end of the route. Both of course, has already thoughts are with the warm flat Nick then got the first car and wanted to start as we invite our things. He has then accidentally closed the car from inside and slammed the door ... ... Since we were so -. Exhausted after two hard days with big eyes staring at a locked hot car. Since we were told how, about 50km away from the nearest people and the middle of the wilderness, of course, there is no mobile phone network we have broken about 1 ½ hours to the head what do we do now. After countless miserable attempts to open the car somehow with a thin stick through the window from the inside, determined we are to embark on one of the rather small rear side windows. Because our arms are not quite as fit, it worked very well this time with a stick and we were finally able to put in your car and drive the 3 hours home.
Although in the end we just had bad luck quite yet, the entire trip was just extremely horny. It's exactly what I wanted to do once and can recommend any change, even a quasi "winter" to go canoeing. Is simply an unforgettable experience!
I'm pretty tired, I adopt me for the last 2 days just very briefly. Yesterday morning I am driven by carpooling from Saskatoon to Calgary. So I am again extremely favorable for only $ 20 down about 620km and then came in the evening in my new home for the week. Leon had pre-arranged accommodation for me - I live now virtually at a friend of the family when they happen. Really very nice people with whom I home straight and the house is simply amazing. I think I can step on a lavishly decorated house never in my life. Really every corner in every detail in any way set up and generally any area teeming with antique pieces.
Today I am then went to Leon a few hours through downtown and I've finally covered with of ski for the winter! I've shot a couple of great bargains and just need ski boots. Ultimately, I keep everything together even under $ 700 and that includes everything from gloves to winter boots and skis. So very very cheap and also new!
Saturday's then back to Lake Louise in my room for the next 6-7 months. I'm looking forward to even go to extreme's Ski and hope that it will be a very nice time. Monday is my first day at work directly and on 5 November, is the ski resort. Are therefore some very interesting days!
I hope you all are doing well home.
Any feedback?
Snowy greetings from Calgary
Trulli
